![]() ![]() Probably the closest thing I've ever had to longterm peace is when I reduce my neighbors to the point where they separate me from the next faction by only a single province. In the end these are both only temporary measures. However, I get the impression that on higher difficulties, just like in MTW2, the AI hates you more and more as the game progresses. ![]() Paying the AI small amounts of tribute over long periods can help in the early game (and sometimes, very rarely, they'll tribute you some as well). It makes a nice handicap as well, since I'm sinking money into those troops far beyond what I really need to defend the area. Of course, eventually, no matter what, they will siege your full stack garrison with a one or two unit stack. ![]() The AI tends to consider whether it thinks it can beat your garrison before attacking, and I've had large AI armies nearly make it to my city then turn away. This also sometimes stops attacks even when they are at war with you, or at least makes them less frequent. I've kept factions from attacking me (and sometimes alliances if they don't ruin it by blockading a port of mine with a single ship) 60+ turns just by keeping massive garrisons in any bordering towns. ![]() What conditions best force enemies into ceasefire/alliance/paying tribute so you won't kill them? ![]()
